Supporting health and work ability throughout working life.
At Elu ja Ilu Keskus, we offer occupational health physician consultations to help employees stay healthy and employers create a work environment that supports wellbeing.
The aim of occupational health care is to maintain employees’ work ability for as long as possible, prevent occupational and work-related diseases, and help reduce sickness absence caused by health problems. Regular health examinations help identify potential health risks early and find ways to reduce them.
An occupational health specialist assesses the employee’s health, the suitability of their working conditions, and the potential effects of the work environment and job duties on their health. The content of the health examination is based on the employer’s workplace risk assessment, the nature of the employee’s work, and their health status.
Depending on individual needs, the examination may include blood tests, vision and hearing checks, an ECG, or lung function testing.
Following the examination, the physician issues an occupational health assessment and provides recommendations for maintaining the employee’s health and work ability. Where necessary, the physician also recommends adjustments to working conditions or work organisation.
Our occupational health physician also issues seafarer medical certificates. The examination assesses whether the person’s health meets the requirements for work at sea. A medical certificate is issued if the relevant requirements are met. When booking, please specify that you need a seafarer medical examination.
To help your appointment run smoothly, please complete the questionnaires sent to you in advance as accurately and thoroughly as possible before attending.
Please do not eat or drink for at least 4 hours before your appointment. Plain, unflavoured water is permitted.
You may take your regular medication as prescribed, unless your physician has instructed otherwise. If your medication must be taken with food or you use blood glucose-lowering medication, please ask us for preparation advice in advance.
Bring an identity document and any glasses or contact lenses you normally use.
If possible, arrive 10–15 minutes early so you can sit quietly before the examinations and complete any necessary paperwork.
If you develop an acute illness, please contact us to arrange a new appointment.
We welcome employees and companies wishing to arrange occupational health examinations for their staff.
Employers are kindly asked to request a quotation for their company.
